Mike Jesson is a Research Fellow in fluid mechanics at the University of Birmingham, UK. Following on from his PhD in open-channel flow over a heterogeneous channel bed, he is now researching extreme wind events, attempting to simulate thunderstorm downbursts in a laboratory.
